We're moving

Not our actual house!

No. You're eyes are not playing tricks on you. You read that correctly: We're moving.

Selling the house we just bought 14 months ago.
Selling the house where we'd planned to raise a family.
Selling the house we've just put in a new kitchen.

That hurts to type, but it's true. And while it sucks, it's all for the best. What a mix of emotions.

Mr. B. accepted a new job, and believe it or not, he's already moved. Talk about crazy. Where, you ask? I'm still toying with sharing exactly where, so for now, let me just say this. We'll be south of the Mason Dixon. And that makes me happy.

Trust me, he wasn't looking for a move. But this company called. And he liked it. So we did it.

Wait, that's a lie. I don't want to sound like there wasn't a ton of careful consideration that went in to this decision. What about the house? What about my job? What about my MBA? What about our life? But as we worked through it, we realized that despite some of the challenges this change will bring, this is a fantastic opportunity for both Mr. B's career and for our family.

For a worrywart like me, this has been hard. I'm, by nature, risk averse. For an eternal optimist like Mr. B, this has been a thrill. He's, by nature, comfortable with risk. I need a plan. He says it will all work out. I need answers. He has faith. I need reality checks. He says to step outside my comfort zone. I need a get-out option. He says we'll make it work together. And even with all that, we're perfectly suited for each other.

I've had to keep this quiet for a while so life could sort itself out before I could tell yall. I hated that. This blog has become a space for me to clear my head; a place to reflect on big and small accomplishments and challenges; a forum to gather advice and support with a lot of humor. Thank you for helping me with that, and I hope you understand why I kept quiet.

I'm going to need MORE of your advice and support over the coming weeks and months. I have no idea what happens next for lots of things. Perhaps yall will help us figure them out?

Here's to Monday. Here's to moving.

And congrats to Mr. B. on an awesome promotion. I am so proud of you and I love you.

PS: I do know this. This blog will remain The Anniversary Home no matter that we're selling The actual Anniversary Home. I plan to continue to focus on home renovation/decor/inspiration (disclaimer: I have no idea what house we'll end up in in the new city!) but will also add in some new elements to keep it fresh. I'm still working through it all, bear with me!

  4. Good luck to you! Moving like that can be hectic - it's a mixed bag of emotions. In the end, since you decided to move, it's best to go with the flow. The new environment will soon be normal.

Congrats, and here's to a happy new home!

  5. Moving is definitely not a simple decision to make. You have to consider a lot of things before you make up your mind. It’s nice to know that you consider all the things that will affect your moving. On the other hand, moving can give you and your husband a better opportunity to meet new people and create a whole new living environment. I guess you’re already enjoying your new house by now.
